Halloween Pumpkin Carving

My one year anniversary is coming up fast. Can you believe it? Seems like yesterday I was buying my first newbie trade sampler. Now six desktops, two 28 ct wineadors, and a 50 qt coolerdor later....I'm broke! :laugh: No but seriously, what a ride it's been. I have to say I've had a great time here at CP and have gotten to know a lot of folks, and hope to get to know you all more in the years to come.

I asked my wife if I should do a costume, pumpkin carving, or ghost story contest. Of course she said pumpkin carving, whereas I was leaning more towards the costume contest as I have a feeling that there would be a...uh...well....lot of fun with that one. Got to thinking maybe a little too much fun. :laugh: So, let's have a pumpkin carving contest!

Start date will be now and will end Oct 31 say around 10:00 p.m. EST. Post pictures of pumpkins that YOU carve. Not one's that are found all over the net or that you got your local sculptur to do for you. Pictures of you carving the pumpkin would be great! Maybe pictures of you in your Halloween costume carving the pumpkin. No limit to number of pumpkins/pics posted. The winner, who I will choose on the date/time listed, will receive a very nice prize package.

Congrats on the anniversary Greg, you're a true asset to CP. My artistic ability stinks on ice, I routinely screw up stick figures. But both of my kids have pumpkins, well, more like orange VW Beetle-sized gourds, that they want me to carve. I'll post pics of my knife-work, but please don't laugh as the kids are a little sensitive.

As long as we're talking up our respective pumpkin carving incompetence, anyone else nearly sever their pinky finger while carving an underripe pumpkin with a wet wooden-handled steak knife when they were a kid?

If we meet in person, I'll be glad to let you feel the knot in my tendon where the surgeons tied it back together so that I could bend it again.

Oh man, You know what, You guys are on. I LOVE Pumpkin Carving. Hmmmm, guess I will have to make it extra speical this year. What are the guidelines, to win. Are you looking for funny, creativity, original or all three. Reason I ask is because lets say someone cuts a pumpkin that is very funny like, the shape of its lips are so bad its funny or its eyes are so not in place with the other one its funny, then the guy next to him makes a perfect pumpkin with the lips and eyes being as close to a human as possible. who would win? the funny guy or the one that made the flawless pumpkin carve? Let me know, I am pumped! :thumbs:

I have not carved a pumpkin since I was 12. Might be a good time to start again.

No specific guidelines, just carve a punkin bestcha can. I might let my little girl pick the winner.
