Today has been an absolutely wonderful day.

Woke up early, as usual, then went and headed out for a round of golf at the course behind my place, visible from my rear balcony. I don't usually take pics when I sit down to relax and smoke, but this time, I just thought I'd make an extra effort and share some:

The day has been absolutely stunning weather wise, with a few high clouds and very minimal humidty. As I was sitting down to smoke this sweet stick, these boys flew by, with the cruise ships (getting ready to fire up and leave later this afternoon) in the background:

Then, after a great lunch of fresh caught grouper, grilled, sat down to this baby...which I received, as you guys may remember, from my lovely little wife:

The stick was selected, and the ritual began:

Poured a nice pint + of St. Peters to go along with it:

Don't know how many pics I can post in a single post, so rather than chance anything, continued below....

Cut, and pre-light draw was smooth as silk. Toast, fire up...mmmmm. Strong notes of wood, forest and some spice. Forgot to start the tunes, so got them going...to start, "Feelin' Allright" - Dexter Gordon, followed by "At Ease" by Coleman Hawkins, followed by "Blue Moods" - Miles Davis, followed by...damn, this is a big stick, so I started to lose count at what all lp's were circulating in the modern era of "shuffle" iTunes...

At any rate, the stick is delicious. Held a nice ash for awhile, which was knocked directly off and ON TO my little buddy and smoke-companion here:

After scrambling to extinguish him, I resumed the task at hand...keeping in mind that the days of "ash-length" contests with myself are now over with this guy around...

Ah, it's a dog's life...

The stick is delicious, the whole way through. Once, for a brief bit, it started to burn unevenly, but it quickly corrected itself. The whole time, the flavors mentioned above stayed present, taming down a bit in fact, but staying very, very nice...

Continued smoking this baby until it nubbed even shorter than this (but I then grew bored with continuing to photo-document this event):

My GOD this is a damn fine stick. Between the ale and the stick, I'm feeling excellent. It's a shame that "A" sticks aren't enjoyed as often as time may permit, but they should be...as often as possible. Then length of this stick, the development along the way, all typical Pepin greatness. I can't wait to let these babies get about a year on them, at least, and see what they hold then. But, they are still damn good and ready today. Not as full-bodied, knock-you-on-your-ass as people may claim, but it's a very, very good lighter-full bodied stick. Definitely, if you are so inclined, get some when you can. Highly recommended.

MC, that was an awsome pic set you provided. The brew, the dog, and the view just made for what looks like a most enjoyable smoke. It is one of the very reasons I smoke, the time of relaxation and peace that makes cigars great.

Thanks for the review; I may need to get my hands on some of those sticks. Well, maybe some smaller ones, anyway, that A size is enormous! How long did it take you to smoke it MC? That must have been a great way to spend an afternoon. It's not often enough that we have the time to spend relaxing like that.

I took it nice and easy with this stick...started it at around 1400 and when I made my way inside, it was after 1600. If you "rushed" it, you could probably finish it in about 1.25 to 1.5 hours though.

Man, You have abbbbsolutelly wonderfull view from your balcony! awesome!

The ring looks like Partagas ring, are they conected somehow?

Very nice review, and great pics! :)

Ps. What a nice doggie!

No, no connection at all. Just a very strong resemblance...band wise anyhow...

And thanks...one day I'll get some pics posted with a view from my front balcony, overlooking the Atlantic and South Beach.

Nice review on that stick, makes me want to get some. 9+ is a great cigar length when you have the time, and easy to age, since I rarely have the time.

Do you have a nice telephoto lens for the next review.

Excellent review! I really enjoyed it and the pictures were fantastic.

MC, you inspired me to bust out one of the five Habana Leon Torps I have. Toasted it up on the patio this afternoon with a nice India Pale Ale I had in the fridge. Very spicy, very nice...! Burn and draw were just about perfect. A wonderful stick. Probably need to add a box of those to the aging room...

Best Regards - B.B.S.

I'm not really sure the last time I was this jealous! What a great experience, and hell, I wasn't even there. So what did you shoot on the course?

A very interesting review that I really enjoyed reading and viewing. Never really heard of these cigars though. But I just can't keep up w/ all this new Pepin stuff.

Fantastic review. My mouth is watering, I'm going to add this cigar to the wishlist and see where to get some.

I believe they are exclusive to Cigar King out in AZ, along with a few other Pepin lines like the Nacionales, Sancti, etc.

Great review and great pics. I'm a little jealous of the view, since my back patio only has a view of the neighbors identical patio and their nifty yard trash.

I haven't been to Florida in about 3 years, and the fresh grouper is probably what I miss the most. I can't wait to go back!

And cute pup too. My two dogs are my smoking buddies as well.

We've got the two labs and recently added a yorkie to our dog family. Her mother won't allow her to smoke with me because she doesn't want her to stink. Here's a pic of her sleeping on me when we first got her. I think she's 5 pounds now.
