Since I smoked this cigar out in the woods by a camp fire cooking a beer can chicken all by myself, this is not a complete review, no pictures and no notes.............just a pleasant memory. However, it was enlightening to me so I thought I would share it.
APPEARANCE: Very attractive with small veins, a well made cap and an evenly packed foot. Very supply feel to the wrapper.
CONSTRUCTION: Initially all was good but having a fairly tight draw lead me to a little massaging which produced inconsistent firmness over the length; slightly soft and mushy from the foot to the band and hard from the band to the cap, thus the tight draw. A little concerned at this point.
PRE-LIGHT: Very deep earthy taste to the pre-light draw but fairly tight
PERFORMANCE: The draw issue dissipated after about an inch and the cigar required one touch up of note. This could have been my fault as I was a little busy with the fire and the chicken.
TASTE: The taste was a bonus form the very beginning with hints of sweetness and deep tobacco flavors mixed with something that took me until the end of the cigar to figure out. As the cigar started to build strength and character there was a familiar "burnt sweetness" which I knew I had eaten before but couldn't place. As I reached the final third the taste kicked into full gear and the "burnt sweetness" finally hit me; Crème Brûlée is the best description I can give it as it had a taste similar to the crusty top of a good Crème Brûlée`.
All in all, I would rate this cigar a 90 even though there were some draw issues. I enjoyed the taste profile so much that I am going to assume the construction and draw was non-characteristic and the next one will draw perfectly!
