The wrapper was slightly rough, but well constructed, dull brown, but oily. It was well filled. The pre-light scent was mild, but nice. The pre-light draw was tough and almost scared me away from firing up. The cigar lit well and had a perfect burn to the last. The draw wasn't awful and lightened up after the first 1/2". The taste was mild/medium and was very cedery with cream and spice on the finish. There was ample smoke and it smoked for just over 50 minutes. It was a one dimensional cigar but still very enjoyable. I would warn against smoking it with anything more than a light bodied scotch or burbon because you might overpower the flavor (i tried knob creek). I read a review that it was like a short magnum 46 and I agree except the magnum 46 has a great deal more depth, flavor, and complexity.
The Conn. No. 1 was a pleasant. The perfect cigar for the hour I get before the family starts pouring through the door.
I will most certainly keep a 5'er in my humidor.
