Cigar I am reviewing is from Gurkha while I have herd bad things about there cigars being overpriced over hyped cigars I had to give this one a try. Having never lit a shaggy foot or even owned one it was going to be a new ride for all of us.
Prelight: The look as with all Gurkha cigars the band was outlandishly loud and well seemed over done but every one of there cigars I have smoked has been that way. The look of the cigar was nice and dark with a bumpy (toothy) wrapper. Prelight smell was very nice cedar and a sweet with a slightly peppery scent.
First Half: The shaggy foot took up flame right away and burn was good. Nice smooth draw with full bodied thick smoke. With earth char flavors with a nice bold peppery kick. Burn was a little uneven right at the end of the first half but nothing a kick from the torch could not fix right up. OK onto the great stuff the ash was rock solid on this cigar more solid then some more expensive cigars I have smoked as you can see from the smoke the ash Stayed strong all the way to the halfway point. And the Flavor was right up my alley bold and sweet with that nice peppery flavor I love.
Second half: ok so I had to put the cigar down to get a glass of paddies Irish Whisky it was cold out freezing cold. So the ash fell off if I did not have to set it down I have no doubt the ash would have stayed all the way to the band. The burn on the second half of the cigar was still a little off but nothing that once again could not be adjusted. Favors on the second half was just as good as the first the sweet gave way to more spice and a nice earthy flavor staying smooth all the way to the nub.
Conclusion: I will be buying a box of these cigars the first chance I get. I loved it nice solid cigar great look great flavor. And the price was not bad at 8 bucks. I am sure if I look around I can find a box for a good price. If I don’t get a box I will have to settle with getting as many singles as I can find. This cigar might have changed me on the hole Gurkha is overrated talk. Thanks for reading! rp
