Here is my first time posting a "review" (if that's what you can call it!) Well, not really, posted in the blind taste test thread, but this is my first time posting a review a cigar that I knew what it was while reviewing it.
This was my very first Gurkha (thanks Swissy!) and definitely NOT my last!
Stupid me didn't write down the size when I smoked it a few weeks ago, but by process of elimination, I am 99% sure it was the Robusto size.
Anyways, here goes nothin':
Wrapper was absolutely beautiful! Incredible construction. Used a punch on this one, and hte pre-light draw was perfect. Easily lit with a few matches. Medium-full body right from the get-go; lots of thic smoke with a very distinct and powerful aroma. Burn started out a bit crooked but was easily fixed. This was probably due to me trying to light it with matches outside. The beginning of the cigar was very flavorful with a lot of full (almost creamy) smoke. As I continued smoking it, the ash was very tight and pretty white. The burn went a little awry again, but no big deal. The ash hung on for about 2" or so and tapped off easily. Ended up smoking this thing down to the nub. It most definitely ended off full-bodied, but there was a sweetness to it that I can't put my finger on (maybe slightly chocolate.)
Overall, this was an amazing introduction to this line of cigars. Could not have been more pleased. Also have another one sitting in the humi as a gift from another great BOTL. Can't wait to get to that one. Haven't checked yet, but I'm hoping a few of these will be in my price range so I can grab some more in the near future.
I don't know how anyone else feels about this cigar in particular, but I have to give it an overall 88-89 rating.
Will definitely be looking to get my hands on some more of these soon!
