Cigar: Gurkha Black Dragon Gran Especial (8.5 x 52)

Cost: I am not sure. I bought a mystery sampler off of a cigar website.

Drink: Lemon-Lime Gatorade

Appearance: This has a beautiful marbleized wrapper on it. There is a cedar wrap on most of the cigar. There were no veins showing. The appearance gets a 10/10

Pre-Light: I picked up some sort of dark, bitter taste.

Construction: Held an average ash. The draw was good. This is a densely packed cigar. The cigar weighs a ton. The cigar required a some touchups.

Taste of the cigar: This cigar had a horrible taste to it. The only way I can describe it is bitter dirt.

Strength: This is a medium bodied cigar.

Summary: This cigar was horrible. I put it out because I just couldn't assault my taste buds anymore. I would never buy this cigar again. I still have not found a Gurkha I like. I think I will give up on this brand. I give it a 2/10.

Here is where I put it out:

A 2/10 is a high score for Gurka.

I gave them up a long time ago. Somehow, they find their way back in my humidor. :0

I have a handful left of the robusto size I got off CI's Daily Deal. The description given has "hints of earth", but I agree that your description of bitter dirt is better

I've not had too much bad luck with Gurkha, particularly the Beast and Liga TPB-1

Most of the Gurkhas I have had have been less than stellar. The Micro Batch, Park Avenue and Class Regents have been the only exception out of the numerous other types they have.

Wow. I recently picked up one of these sticks and was actually looking forward to sparking it until I read your review. Yikes.

The only Gurkha's I've enjoyed and which had any sort of complexity and balance were the Expedition and Grand Envoy. The Legend Series, Signature edition (gold and silver) and Gurkha Class Regent Nepalese Warrior were particularly terrible. The Double Maduros were ok, not stellar. I haven't managed to find any of their super-premium line in my humidor yet.

The Gurkha Triple Ligero is the only Gurkha I like.

I bought a ton of those off Cbid under the K. Hansotia label a few years back. Very tasty cigars! The Gurkha Ancient Warrior in the exact same size is close, but the other sizes sucked.

I like some Gurkha's, but not the Black Dragon. They're awful. I think I still have a couple of robustos taking up valuable humidor real estate.

Most gurkhas have a moth ball taste to them. That was the old label so it should have had a decent amount of age on it.

Too bad.

I like the Tripple legiro, Furete and the ancient warrior from Gurkha. Outside of that I think the rest all tast the same.
