Grounding Sheets, Mats and Pads.

I recently went down a rabbit trail regarding grounding, or Earthing and have read some interesting things about it. I’ve read multiple articles that discuss the science behind it, but being the skeptic I am, I’m curious to know if any of y’all have any experience with grounding sheets, mats and/or pads.
 
Depends on what the purpose is. In our HW lab, we had conductive work surfaces ($), and a conductive tile floor ($$). Everything got tied to earth ground. We typically didn't use ground straps, but the process geometry of the parts we were working on wasn't super critical for ESD events. For things we were concerned about, we used a "heel grounder" which provided a ground connection between you and the floor. RH in the lab mattered too..... Biggest thing is the charge has to have somewhere to go, which is why an earth ground matters.

Having said that, guilty as charged at flying pretty loose with ESD precautions other than that. I can't recall ever having an issue.

Again, it depends on what you're doing, what the parts are, and how fatal an ESD event would be. At the component level (where we often worked) things are much fussier than if you have an assembled system, or even an assembled PCB.

I think I know the rabbit hole you went down.
It sounds reasonable, but also a bit like rev 2 of the crystal power folks.

They also have earthing shoes you can buy, or you can buy the kit and turn any shoes into earthing shoes.
 
What is the use of these mats or shoes?
 
Everything is energy. We're all energy. Research Nikola Tesla. There's a reason why electrical outlets must be grounded; humans (animals, etc) all conduct electricity. Energy, frequency and vibration is what makes up everything.
 
BTW, this is a deeeeep rabbit hole, as it will open your eyes to many things. :cool:
 
I jumped on the bandwagon and got a grounding mat to sit at the foot of our couch. The science of it sounds believable, but neither my wife or I have noticed any difference. Maybe it works, couldn't tell ya.
 
Tried it, noticed nothing but a lighter wallet.

Tell you what I am doing, and it definitely helps. Red light therapy with a cold laser device. Helps with inflammation, also speeds up wound healing, allegedly helps noggin hair growth. Pretty much using it on shoulders & neck.

Which one did you buy? I was looking into this as well. I heard a lot of positive reviews about red light therapy.
