Well last night I had a lot of first. I smoked my first Gurkha Legend which I had been looking forward to for some time now. It was probably the Robusto size 6x50 although I thought the ring gauge was a tad smaller than 50. The flavor was amazing! I enjoyed the complex dark creamy flavor with hints of chocolate in this cigar. It was a truly enjoyeable experience. The burn was pretty good although I did have to touch it up occastionaly. I really really enjoyed this cigar and it is one of my new favorites.
I smoked the legend with a glass of Glenlivet 12 year aged scotch. This was only my second bottle of scotch so I didn't know what to expect, but I absolutely loved this scotch. The woody smoky flavor just exploded in my mouth with every sip. I don't even know if I can finish off the bottle of Mcclellands lowland scotch that tastes more like butterscotch after drinking this.
After that I was feeling so good about the evening, and the weather here in Arkansas was so lovely and cool, that I decided to light up my first Padron 1926. So shortly thereafter, I fire up a #6 gifted to me by BFreebern for my birthday back in February. I have to tell you that this was one of the better smokes I have ever had. The draw started out a bit tight, but loosend up once the smoke was pulled through it. It tasted similiar to many of the 64s I have smoked, but had a little something different that I really liked. I liked the very rich, mellow taste with some sweet notes. I can't really tell much more about the flavor, but I know I am going to be smoking more of these.
All in all it was a great night of smoking, drinking, and fellowshipping with friends. Now it is going to be hard getting back to the cheap smokes as these were two of the best smokes I have had.
