Great...just great...now what? My first Opus.

My first review... and I am a man of few words. (Just believe me on this and don't go back and read any of my posts.) I went to my B&M to pick up my tickets for the Jorge Padron Dinner on 24 September and found that he had a box of Fuente Fuente Opus X. (Oh, and I was told I could buy some special Padron boxes at the dinner...not normally available to the public.) Was that for real or just a hook? Hell, I already had the tickets when the owner told me. (What do you think?)
Anyway...the review...

Fuente Fuente Opus X – Belicoso xXx

My very first. Opus X …This cigar had a Reddish brown wrapper and the mini-torpedo had a perfect draw. I never had such a perfect draw. My palate was assaulted with smooth, slightly sweet spice and cedary notes. But the best of all was a solid core of earth and fine Cordoba leather flavor, (Ok, I had to say “Cordoba.”) The finish had a slight minty taste backed with a well-balanced cedar aroma.

Now what do I do? I really liked it.

Weeeell... Since this is my first cigar dinner and since I am very new to all this "cigar wrangling" I am not sure how this works. So, all I can tell you is what Chet (Manager at Emerson's Cigar) said to me yesterday...

He told me that: "You will have an opportunity to "pre-order" boxes of Padron cigars so that they will be ready for the dinner and that way you can take them home immediately following the event. This is so you don't have to carry large amounts of money, fill out checks, use a credit card machine, etc... because that would take away from the elegant feel of the dinner." He added that some of the Padron boxes that will be available for pre-order were not normally available to the public." Now he said something else after that, but someone else said something, and I missed it. I THINK he said something about the boxes being made specific to this event. But, I could be wrong.

Ah, Hell. Why don't I just call him and confirm it. (Any specific questions I should ask?) I will check back to this board later this afternoon.

I know! Doesn't that suck?
Now, I don't want to be a whore...unless I get paid for it...or unless ...ah never mind.
Here is what I liked best about the cigar.
The Draw and the taste of Leather. And yes, we are talking fine "Ricardo Montalbán Corinthian Leather" (RMCL) type leather.
The draw was not like a Rocky Patel (In my opinion, they draw too easy, like through a soda straw in an empty glass.) The draw on this cigar had some resistance. I liked that. It also had, the fine RMCL taste to it. Which is one of the reasons I like Montecristo #2 ISOMs (even though they are a little mild for me.)

What can I say... I like leather with just a hint of spice. Or should I say ...RAWHIDE! :whistling:

Now...find me a cheaper and more available cigar and I will be its WHORE! Oh, BTW, it is not like I have not been looking...I look and look and look, and will keep looking until my 401k is empty. ...and the quest continues...

After talking to my B&M... Brian you are correct, Sir.

Apparently there will DEFINITELY be boxes of Padron 40th Aniversary 1926 available for pre-order and available at the dinner. And a limited number of the 80th Anniversary MAY also be available. I will have more information as the time draws nearer.

Should I invest?
