This is a first.
Wrapped in a Candela wrapper (a light green), the Emerald Presidente is, uh, weird looking.
Construction of the stick is superb, much as w/ the few other Graycliffs I've had. Really nice roll and a great draw. Clipped well and burned nicely, creating a ton of smoke.
This is where things get strange. Upon ignition, the cigar smelled of...reefer. Yep, ganga. Sticky-icky, weed, Mary Jane, etc. The flavor is unique, to say the least. It seems to be mild w/ a definite green, grassy taste. The peculiar part is that if you hold the smoke in your mouth for a few seconds it gets downright spicy. Jalapeno spicy even. In fact, the finish is green peppery. Very peculiar and definitely my first experience w/ this.
I have to admit, I feel like a cow smoking my cud. For those of you who haven't been well acquainted w/ farm life, a cud is grass that a cow regurgetates whenever it sees fit and wants something to chomp on. Lazy bitches could easily bend over and get another mouth full, wouldn't you think? Anyway, I've never seen a cow smoking its cud, but I'd imagine this is what it'd be like.
I'm really a bit puzzled here. I can't tell if the peculiarity of this stick comes from needing time in the humidor, or if this is just its normal taste.
Someone else seek one out and smoke it. Write a review and let me know if I'm off base. Not bad at all...just weird.
