Picked this one up with a sampler pack, just to try out some different 'yard gar flavors.

Temperature: 81 degrees Fahrenheit
Ambient RH: 19%
Sunny, high clouds.
Wind from the SE at 4mph

Beverage: Becks NA

This cigar has a nice deep medium brown wrapper with prominent veins and a nice toothy texture and a very light sheen. Very pleasant visually though not without some imperfections. The cap tasted of the familiar dark-wrapper tang that shows up in many maduros.

Clipped with guillotine cutters, just barely cut anything off.

Pre-lit draw was excellent, not lose, not tight. The cigar felt firm but with enough sponginess to give confidence this cigar has been properly humidified. The foot smelled terrific, not bland but very aromatic tobacco.

First Third
The cigar started out with a very pleasant sweet tobacco flavor with a hint of something that made me think "fried egg sandwich." There was a touch is pepper and full, creamy smoke. The ash was a mottled black and white, slightly flaky and held for about 1". The burn was uneven but self corrected.

Second Third
The middle transitioned out of any pepper and continued the pleasant, light tobacco notes but with a hint of nutmeg or perhaps cloves, very nice tasting but dampened with a hint of bitterness on the back of the tongue. The burn corrected and then reverted. The ash continued to be quite flaky and didn't hold very long so I ashed this section more aggressively that I prefer. Towards the end of the third I began picking up a a slight tanginess.

Final Third
The smoke thinned out some and the tobacco began to lose complexity though still pleasant with a subtle grassy sweetness that diminished towards the end. The draw also began to get slightly hot so shorter draws were necessary. I still kept being reminded of fried egg sandwich, with the toasted wheat and fried egg both being noticeable. I smoked it down to about two inches when the cigar began to get quite hot and a sliver of ammonia became detectable.

At $10/ea in a fiver from CI, I can't recommend this cigar. Even a box of 20 on sale at $100 might not be quite the price point I'd pay for this one. It was pretty good and I'd be happy to be handed one at a herf but thats about it.

K.M. Score: 3.5/5

Great review. I've got one of these sitting in a humidor, just have never gotten around to trying it.

Nice review. Sounds like it would make a good breakfast cigar.

Moe- with a taste/aroma of a fried egg sandwich I guess so... :D I can't say that's a flavor I look for in a cigar though...lol... Nice T-Wall back drop there KM... :)

I bought a 5er of these when they were first released and didn't really care for the one I smoked right away. After a year in the humi I decided to give it another try and was blown away at how well they had aged. Give these some time and they turn out to be a much better smoke. I immediately got another 5er and put them at the bottom of my singles so I could have more aged sticks in the future.

I have quite a few of these in my humi.
Definitely put some age on these. Minimum 1.5 years. The older they are the better they get.

You shouldn't have to age a $10 smoke 1 to 2yrs to make it a good cigar. I've always found Graycliff cigars to be very disappointing.

I found the same thing with the Professionale PGs that I tried and I tried more than 1 (5 actually). Very disappointing esp for the price.

So I should give up on those Hav-a-Tampa's that have been aging for 10 years in my Grandfathers glovebox???? ;) :D

This is my reaction as well. I've smoked five or six of them over the years and despite the terrific things I've heard, I'm always left kinda flat and never consider buying them again until they show up in a sampler and the cycle starts over.

You are Army aren't you? lol Reminds me of the Cheech and Chong skit... where they're walking and see something on the ground.... Chong "Is the dog Sh@t? (condensed for time) after looking at it, sniffing it, and tasting it...Cheech replies- "Looks like dog.... smells like dog.... and tastes like dog ....--Man...good thing we didn't step in it!" ;)

Buy via CigarBid or CI. Bought a mazo of 20 for $40.

With age, they are amazing. Truly unlike the rest of the grayclifs.

Graycliff are way way way waaaaayyyyyy overpriced, no doubt about it. Never will I pay full price for their stuff. They are also known for bugs, at least for me  . That is why I store them in a special container in my humi.
The 1666 isn't worth $4 imo. Better cigars can be found for at that price.
What I don't find in Graycliffs is spice/pepper and that is one of the reasons why I like it, other being the price point. No Don Pepper crap.

Fried egg sandwich?
