I went to a cigar tasting at a local shop yesterday afternoon. It was for a new cigar made by Eiroa, called the Monte Carlo. I understand the name is one of their old lines that hasn't been made in a number of years. It's a local guy that worked up the blend/wrapper combination, said it took him about 3 years to get it the way he wanted it.
...anyway, they have drawings for door prizes about every 30 min or so, for different accoutrements, occasionally drawing for a box of cigars. The big prize yesterday was a box of these Monte Carlos, and I WON it.
This is the first time I've ever won anything at a tasting. I'm sorta jazzed.
The designer said this cigar was only going to be released in the mid-south area, Texas, NM, Ok, I forget all the states, about 6 or 7. It won't be a nationwide release.
I'll smoke another of them, and try to give a review. The one I smoked at the tasting was really nice. Square, box pressed, dark as a maduro, but it's a criollo wrapper and binder. It smelled like it was going to be REALLY mild, and started out that way, but got slightly more peppery toward the end. It was also deceptive, in that I got pleasantly buzzed from it.
