Got a question

Hi everyone, im new to the forums... looks like a happenin place with a lot of knowledgeable people so i thought i would bring my question here.

Tonight I decided to lite up a cigar i bought a little bit ago, a romeo y julieta clemenceaus en tubo. I must say that I though it was a pretty decient smoke however about 1/3 of the way down it the wrapper began to split as I drew on it...like the cigar was expanding below the burn line(which was even). The cigar has been sealed untill i opened it tonight. It has not been in a humador, which i have bought but still hasnt arrived yet. It has been stored in a cool dry place basically undesturbed. Is this typical with this brand or a weird hapening? It was cut properly and lit with a cigar match properly. Anyway info on this would be much appreciated because im contemplating buying some more. Thanks!

i have no idea, all the words kinda of blend together im a lil drunk

Im thinking tht the gar just dried out. In my oppinion just because its in a tube, dosent mean its always air tight. I would say buy another single and try it again.

Yeah .. I'm with MNRon. You stated cool, DRY place. That could very well have been the problem.

A damp cigar will not burn properly. Not only will it be difficult to keep lit, but also difficult to draw on. The smoke may become too dense, leaving the smoker with a sour taste and a rank odor. Also, over-moist cigars will frequently split their wrappers

A dry cigar will burn too hotly. Without the proper level of moisture, the combustion temperature of your cigar will be too high and the smoke will be hot and acrid against your palate. The smoke may become overly aggressive and you will lose many of the subtle flavor nuances that a properly humidified cigar would have given you. Also, the drier the cigars, the earlier their essential oils will evaporate, which reduces their overall flavor and aroma

Other factors to take into consideration...how long it was not in a humidifier, your RH where it was stored, tubo's don't always mean "air tight", etc...

My guess tobacco was moist and began to expand as the heat burned the tobacco.

Where are you? what is the local RH ?The "cool dry place" had me thinking it was too dried out. Then rnccen has a good point. It's humid where I live and I use the humi to keep the smokes dry enough. either way the cigar needs a stable enviroment at the right RH.

Had this happen on a damp MAG 46 I smoked recently :( . The wrapper was cracking/expanding about the burn line. Ah well, life goes on :D
