After a long day of scrubbing the interior of my vehicle and cleaning up the shattered glass from the 9 magical exploding bottles of wine I was stowing in the cab of my pick up, I decided it was time to sit down to relax and enjoy some time where I'm not wearing pink rubber gloves, smelling like senior citizen with an obsessive cleaning disorder. So after my adventures of the day I changed into something light to enjoy the lovely 63 degree weather and shortly after began rummaging through my Tupperdor for the right smoke. Saying no to the rarities and Cubans, I rolled a stick in my hand and gave her a examination, inspecting the foot, the head and giving her a good sniff I decided she was the one for me. I searched my desk drawers for a sharp generic guillotine cutter and my favorite lighter, stowing the contents of my search in the breast pocket of my shirt I grabbed my keys, wallet and phone as I ran out the door where I ran into my neighbor across the hall who happened to be in a bikini in search of a sun tan that I assumed would be just in front of my smoking area. Guess what? I was right, oh boy was I right!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say you all would like to know what I brought with me on this gorgeous day to indulge on? It's a recently purchased Rocky Patel "The Edge" Belicoso I believe, I will honestly say I've never been a real fan of Rocky Patels, but I saw this smoke at the B & M as I poked around with my club members showing them the different smokes we would be smoking in the not too soon future and I had to grab one to try seeing as though I can't say I don't like Rocky Patels if I haven't had them all or at least that's how I convinced myself into spending more of my money. After a few moments of enjoying my scenery I whipped out the cutter and clipped off the very tip of this cigar and took a nice deep prelight draw off this immaculate stick. Perfection, great flavors of cedar and earth, just the right amount of resistance, I was ready to put a flame to this stick and start this party. Unfortunately just before the toasting began the wrapper unraveled and tore off the head of the cigar making me just slightly bitter, but none the less it's already cut I might as well smoke it! I began to toast to foot of the cigar and of course my luck being fantastic today 3 seconds into toasting the cigar I ran out of fluid. So I huffed my lazy ass into the elevator and back to my room where I refueled my torch, then I walked back down stairs and continued my previous activity of lighting my smoke. As I puffed very small amounts of smoke came out, so I puffed harder until I got a steady stream of smoke pouring through the cut tip of the cigar getting small hints of earth and hay.
As I smoked and the ash slowly crawled up the stick I began to get wonderful hints of a green leafy vegetable that I can only compare to spinach but had a bit more spice like fresh arugula but none the less lovely. The more I smoked the more the wrapper unraveled and the more carburetors I found. I smoked this cigar like I playing a flute, head cocked to the side with my fingers plugging the holes I could find, and after 20 minutes of this musical escapade I decided to call it quits. Great flavors of vegetation wasn't enough to counteract the work it took to smoke this stick, but I will not say that this stick was not a good stick I will on the other hand have to find another one to hopefully change my mind on my Rocky Patel conclusions. I pray my next one of these is constructed better then the one I smoked today and hopefully will have the same lovely flavors but the ability to consume will be much better.
