Tomorrow I have a golf outing. I want to bring some cigars for my partners. One guy likes to dip his in whiskey and chew on it so I don't want to give him a "good" one the other two guys I am fairly certain don't often smoke cigars. What, in your opinion, would be the proper stogie offering and shoud mine be on the same level or should it be what I like?

Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe Maduro, Oliva Serie G Maduro are 2 that come to mind.

I could be wrong, but it seems that the cuban sandwich type cigars stay lit longer when doing "busy" stuff, like golfing, yard work, etc. I think some can have a hint of bitterness, but the AF is decent enough. Oliva is just a great budget brand, and the Maduros just keep developing all the way to the nub.

You think the Olivia's might be too strong for people that don't smoke often?

The reality is they probably won't finish whatever you give them, strong or not. I'd just go with the Olivia's and call it a day. :)

When I'm meeting up with a group of guys I know don't normally smoke, I've got 1 row in the travel humi of light bodied stuff. Like Dan said, Connecticut wrappers and you should be fine. For your smoke, though, it should be what you like. No sense in smoking something you don't like.
