I've been sitting on about 10 GOF for quite some time now. I've never smoked one until tonight for my 45th birthday. Anticipating a cigar like this in itself is a great thing. If it were to let me down would be a terrible disappointment. Luckily it was a fantistic Cigar. Upon removing it from the plastic I smelled it from top to bottom numerous times. It had a wonderfully sweet aroma to it. I'd say a scent of coaco. When I smelled the foot it had a very pleasant smell to it. Very sweet smelling. When I lit it, I knew in the first 1/4 inch that it was a great cigar. It had a very leathery smoke to it. When I exhaled it still seemed like I had a mouth full of smoke. The flavor was very complex. It took on a Mesquite grilled steak like flavor to me. On the other hand, My BIL seemed to get a Cherry sweetness to it. It did have a sweetness to it through out the entire Cigar. To me, the steak flavor lasted fron the first puff to the very end. very uniform in flavor and by all means a fantastic cigar. It burned perfectly all the way through. This cigar has a flavor alone in the crowd. I've never had a cigar quite like this one. It has a flavor all its own. The GOF definitely lives up to its reputation. If I had to score this cigar I'd have to give it a 94. I don't think you could possibly go wrong with a GOF. Worth its weight in gold.
