GOF 2005 review.

I've been sitting on about 10 GOF for quite some time now. I've never smoked one until tonight for my 45th birthday. Anticipating a cigar like this in itself is a great thing. If it were to let me down would be a terrible disappointment. Luckily it was a fantistic Cigar. Upon removing it from the plastic I smelled it from top to bottom numerous times. It had a wonderfully sweet aroma to it. I'd say a scent of coaco. When I smelled the foot it had a very pleasant smell to it. Very sweet smelling. When I lit it, I knew in the first 1/4 inch that it was a great cigar. It had a very leathery smoke to it. When I exhaled it still seemed like I had a mouth full of smoke. The flavor was very complex. It took on a Mesquite grilled steak like flavor to me. On the other hand, My BIL seemed to get a Cherry sweetness to it. It did have a sweetness to it through out the entire Cigar. To me, the steak flavor lasted fron the first puff to the very end. very uniform in flavor and by all means a fantastic cigar. It burned perfectly all the way through. This cigar has a flavor alone in the crowd. I've never had a cigar quite like this one. It has a flavor all its own. The GOF definitely lives up to its reputation. If I had to score this cigar I'd have to give it a 94. I don't think you could possibly go wrong with a GOF. Worth its weight in gold.

I have a 10 pack that a rediscovered in a recent stock rotation. I have not tried it but may light it up tonight.

I haven't had the 2005, but had a few 2004's and 2006's.

I've said on numerous occasions that this is one of the few cigars in this price range that warrant the price tag.

Great smokes IMO.

Smoked through a box and was sadly dissapointed. It just didn't do it for me. Good smoke and great construction. I guess I had over-hyped them in my mind and the fell short. I might pick up a box down the road and give them another shot. Enjoyable, yes, outstanding, no.

Thanks for the review.

This particular cigar had been resting with some Opus-X's for months. I wonder if this may have effected its flavor. Although I felt it was a really good cigar I'd still take an Opus-X#5 over it. That lil #5 really packs some flavor.

Thanks for the review. I love these babies- everything about them. The 2005 Robustos have become my New Years Eve smoke of choice for 3 years and running...
