If I had some bands I had taken off cigars, and wanted to put them back on, what would I use to glue the bands? What do they use in the factories?

JK

I just use a little Elmer's white glue.

You should ask Gamehumper, he's the king of rebanding

One of those non-toxic glue sticks or some Certo liquid pectin works good.

A glue stick is the fastest and cleanest way to do it that I know of but other ways work too.

Use a gluestick. Poked a hole in the side and use a toothpick to spread on a bit onto the bands.

Poke a hole in the side of the glue stick? And then put a toothpick in the hole?

Can I just use the gluestick to apply glue to a little of the label normally or is that too much glue? Does the glue dry transparently?

Yes and yes. Works great for me.

found this stuff - Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Permanent Glue - at OfficeMax and Office Depot - I use it to stick my labels in my cigar journal - works like a charm.

Why would you re-glue a band? ???

I've seen people take a small, thin like, magic marker and write initals on the cap. besides you cut if off anyways.

When I was a roller for Perdomo cigars, we used pectin. :D You can buy it at the grocery store, it comes in a powder. Add water and let it set...it turns into a jar of goo with a consistency something like eqq-whites mixed with jelly. We also used it to glue the cigar wrapper leaves during the final rolling process.

Since it's made from fruit, it's non-toxic.

If you missed the pictorial essay of my illustrious career at Perdomo cigars (I rolled 1 cigar under the tuteladge of Billy Perdomo), here's a link:

Well, I used a child-safe (I interpreted this to mean safe to eat) glue stick, and just put a bit of glue on the end of the band and it worked out fine. No glue touching tobacco. I like to keep bands on cigars just so I know what they are. I am not so experienced that I could tell what I was smoking from taste, and am confident I would forget eventually without bands. I already have 5 bandless cigars in the humi, and have no idea what they are.

Thanks for all the input!

THAT is cool!

I use a glue stick too... cheap, fast and easy.

oh and BTW: the link is pretty cool. I've seen cigars rolled locally at cigar events (pictures are on my moblog linked in my signature)... its pretty cool for those who have never actually seen it done before them... though I'm jealous - I'd would have LOVED to try and roll one myself!!! That had to be awesome. Oh, and smoking a fresh rolled was pretty good too ;) I'm told smoking a fresh rolled on the streets of Havana is a true experience! :0
