Hi all,
HELP! My boyfriend is in Afghanistan and his birthday is approaching. I'd like to send him cigars to share with his buddies. I know NOTHING about cigars, so I'm hoping you can steer me to a cigars that may like, based on his current inventory. Can anyone make some recommendations that are comparable to the cigars below?

I found these cigars in his humidour: (basically I can only give what's on the wrapper!)
-Padron 1964 Anniversary Series, Exclusivo
-5 Vegas Cask Strength, Bold, Deep Flavor, Aged 6 years, Refined
-Nub handmade

I know he really likes Romeo y Julieta.

I plan to buy 20-50 so he can share, so I'm looking for some suggestions that are also affordable.

Thank you SO much for any help!

Now, I'm just a newb here but I would talk to one of the supporting vendors here on CP. There a several good ones to choose from. My experience is limited to having delt with Isreal (uptown_isy) and was REALLY impressed with the service he gave me. I beileve we spoke on the phone for thirty minutes. I felt like I was standing in his store with him. He "suffered" all my new guy questions with a passion, knowledge and grace that sets him apart from most retailers today. Honestly can't wait for my humi to open up so I can give him more business. He would be a great resource for you.

Good advice.

Does he have a humidor of some sort out there?

3X on shooting Israel a PM or giving him a call (Uptown Cigars Googles right up). Israel and the company he represents have sent many, many cigars to the troops and he'll take great care of you.

Depending on what you want to spend, a couple of boxes of Padron 3000's (maybe one in Maduro, one in regular wrappers) would be a fantastic gift for some brave guys (and gals?) serving their country.

Don't hesitate to ask Israel's advice and you can trust his opinion.

Best Regards - B.B.S.

Yeah, Padron's would likely be your best choice. The 3000's as BBS suggested would be a good size.

The reason I ask about the humidor, is because if he doesn't have one, I'd recommend you consider getting him one that is similar to whatever the other cigar smokers out there are using. Hopefully someone here can give you a better recommendation than I, I know we have guys here that have been deployed out there.

Given the climate, I'd think a tupperware container or even an Otterbox would be the way to go.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Maybe a Pelican case or Cigar caddy. I wonder if troops get discounts on that kind of stuff.

Great, thanks! He has a herf-a-dor out there.. I'm hoping that will do?

Thanks all for the suggestions! I will look at the Padron 3000s and hit up Israel.

Thank you!! Huge help!

Ya I would go with the padron 3000's as well, if he has a padron 1964 series in his humidor you can't go wrong with the price but if you have the extra money to spend (and I mean a lot extra) send the 64's but if you don't stick with the 3000
