For my second post here I thought I would throw my opinion of a popular cigar I smoked last night into the ring. However I must preface what I mean by noob. I am by no means new to Tobacco. I'm just a noob in the cigar area. Although I'm quite fluent in pipe smoking. So on with the show.

Last night I smoked a cedar wrapped gran reseverva in what seemed like a churchill size. Its presentation was great. Cedar wrapped with a nice ribbon and that well known Fuente label. Its construction was very good, firm with a slight spring and a wonderfully nutty brown colored wrapper with slight veining. From sight alone I was impressed.

A small description from the cigar.com website "The cedar wrapped line combines a smooth Connecticut wrapper over a Dominican filler and binder making it a mild masterpiece." - Mild is an understatement. I was very surprised how mild this cigar was and it didn't give me that wow factor that I really enjoy when I first light up. Its also a very light boddied cigar. I didn't get any of that mouth coating feeling I normally look for. Flavors of coffee seemed to be the most dominent with a pinch of lether and wood. However tasting and sipping was made very difficult due to the ultra hard draw of this gar. I kept expecting it to loosen as I smoked, but it held strong the whole way down to the last two inches when it finlly snuffed itself out; even after I found what was the proper cadence for the cigar.

I'm not moved by this cigar and for what I paid at the B&M I will not be buying one again. The online prices are a little better at what looks like about $5-6. I'm in no way giving up on this brand. Fuente is a recomendation many have given to me and I'm sure I will find something I enjoy.

Nice review! For Fuente flavor with a little more oomph, give one of the Chateau Fuente sungrowns a shot. Very nice cigar, and priced well to boot.
