Frigidor Question

This might seem like a silly thought, but hear me out. I'm right on the verge of pulling the trigger on an order for an Edgestar 28 bottle cooler. Of course I'd like to trick it out with nice shelves and all, but being out of work that may not happen for some time. Also, whether some of you approve or not...I've got a decent amount of ACID's to think about. The main reason for going with a wine cooler is to get around the heat and humidity in my apartment in the summer months. I don't want to worry about coming home and finding my sticks riddled with little beetle f'n holes.
But back to my question...Is there any reason why I couldn't stack my existing humidors inside the cooler? All the measurements for the humi's and the cooler work out nearly perfectly with free space for air circulation inside. I could also depend on the internal humidification of each humi to keep desired RH% couldn't I? I mean it's not the ideal, but short term I might get me through the summer, and long term, I could just keep the ACID's in a sealed humi and the rest of my sticks loose. Am I nuts, or does this sound feasible?

Yeah...so what if all my humidors are identical? So I lack imagination. What's the problem?

That's the coffee table which is solid Ash, not Oak. That's so obvious that the finishes are different.

Got a thing for wood, eh?

Back to yur question.

Keep the lids open, inside, and rely on the outer most settings.

I stuck my humidor in my Vinotemp before it was completely ready (just to experiment). It held it's humidity and stayed cool... I think you should be fine. Just watch your RH and you'll be fine...

After reading the thread about ways to keep the temperature down during the summer and some of the many coolidor/fridgidor threads out there this idea crossed my mind as well. As a semi-recent college grad I have a min-fridge I haven't used in a couple of years. Problem is that it as the built in freezer. I was thinking about experiementing by putting my humidor in the fridge and seeing if it would help keep the temperature down. Luckily for me I live in Michigan so we don't get too terribly hot in the summer time. Let me know what you guys think. Once I've tried it I'll post results.

I don't know how much you spent on your humidor, but the low humidity in the fridge combined with the relatively high humidity in the humidor could cause problems with warping.

It may not be a problem at all though.

I've got the fridge plugged in and set on it's highest setting and it looks like it's probably going to be too cold to store the cigars in. But you bring a good point as well. I was hoping more or less with the climate here in Michigan that the fridge wouldn't need to kick on very often (at least less often than the central air would) in order to keep the cigars at a nice 70 degrees. I haven't ruled it out quite yet but as I said, it doesn't look promising.

Put the fridge on it's lowest setting and track the temp and humidity ranges over the weekend. Once you figure out what kind of RH swings you'd be dealing with I think you could make a more informed decision.

I played around with the fridge for a couple of hours tonight and every time it would kick on it would end up in the mid 50's so I called it quits.
