...makes a HUGE stink in my humi!!

I had never seen fresh spanish cedar before - or smelled it. There are large stripes of sap oozing out of the grain. I have no idea if this is normal but it sure adds to the odor!
Has anyone else ever experienced sap oozing from fresh cedar?

It could be an inconvenience, i suppose, but it adds to the effect, fer sure. :D

That is called weeping. Spanish cedar (and other woods) do this when exposed to extremes of temperature and humidity. You will want to remove the sap. You do not want it contacting your cigars. The best way to remove it is by sanding. Sand only with the grain of the wood, using a fine grit sand paper. Depending on how much sap you have the removal could take a while.

If you can see droplets, I'd suggest that you take a razor blade and lift off the drops before sanding. That'll save you some work. If it is large flat regions of sap hugging the wood, then sanding is the way to go.

Thanks for the good advice! Weeping! I knew suffering was invvolved somehow. Nothing as transcendent as cigars comes about without it. :D
