Hey folks, sorry for being absent for the last couple weeks. I've been on vacation and ended up sitting on a 1st degree murder trial for a week before that. My first time ever getting called for jury duty and I'm on a friggin murder trial; just my luck.

So I wanted to let everyone know about the La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal humidor special we're running through the month of July. When you purchase any box of La Aroma de Cuba, La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial, San Cristobal or San Cristobal Seleccion del Sol you will receive a free La Aroma de Cuba or San Cristobal humidor. These humidors hold between 25 and 30 cigars and come with a Savoy humidification unit.

What? 4 LFDs, but no San Cristobal lancero?
I've been jonesin' for a San Cristobal lancero.

Nice sampler, nice price, though.

Chemyst

I would have put them in there only I don't have any left. I know Ashton was thinking about making them a regular production stick a while back; I'll have to see if they are going to release any more.

Have you tried any of the La Flor Air Bender Lanceros? I've really been enjoying the two new sizes Litto added to the line (Lancero and Corona).

Ha! The day I got picked the cop came in and told us, "You'll get coffee and donuts in the morning. But don't expect any of those high-end donuts like Duncan Donuts." So the next morning we had watered down coffee and glazed hockey pucks.

What was the verdict?

It's a good story, but too long to write. I'll give you the short version. After six hours of deliberating we were going to find the guy "not guilty". About fifteen minutes before we came to the verdict the guy plead to 2nd degree murder and took 14 years in jail. There was me and two other people who were on the "guilty" side and we just could not convince the "not guilty" folks. It wasn't quite like 12 Angry Men but we did have some heated discussions in the jury room. Once we heard the guy took a plea agreement the three of us who were holding out for guilty kind of smiled at each other, glad that we had held out for so long. I wonder if that guy knows how close he was to walking free?

Think I will check out that sampler, sounds yummy. Thanks for giving us a tip here on CP.

One thing I forgot to mention: our website is not set up to apply the free UPS Ground shipping when you place an order. We will apply the free shipping when we process the order here in the shop.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thank you,
Eric

We're starting something new on our website this week. We are debuting something called "The Weekly 12". Each week will have a different theme to it. For example, this week's special is called "The Big 12" since all the cigars in the sampler have a 55 ring gauge or bigger. If you don't like what you see this week check back with us for next week's new sampler.

This week's Big 12 sampler will get you two each of:

San Cristobal Papagayo
Arturo Fuente Rosado Magnum R-56
Cain Habano 660
La Flor Dominicana Air Bender Valiente
Padron 5000 Maduro
and La Gloria Cubana Series R No. 6 Maduro

The normal retail price is $95.90. You can pick up these twelve great cigars for only $72!

We received our first shipment of the new limited edition 2010 Zino Platinum Crown Emperor.

zinoEmperor2010.jpg

The cigars measure 5 x 64 and come in boxes of eight. The filler blend is made up of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. They use a proprietary Dominican tobacco for the binder and the wrapper leaf is a beautiful Ecudorian. We have singles and boxes available. Single cigars go for $26 and the box of eight is $208. Only 1,000 boxes were made.

I'll try smoking one later today so I can give you folks a quick review.

Thanks,
Eric

Smoked a Zino Emperor last night. I have to admit, I was not looking forward to smoking a 64 ring gauge cigar. So I grabbed a beer (Three Floyds Gumball Head) and sparked the cigar. It started with a good amount of spice and just a touch of cedar. These are definitely stronger than last year's Zino Emperors. The construction was flawless and the cigar burned very well for such a huge ring gauge. The first third kind of threw a range of flavors at me. Hints of cream would switch to hints of leather which would then bring about a touch of spice. I liked the complexity but kind of wished it would settle into a steady flavor profile. So I touched it up a bit about half way through and then the Davidoff earthy flavors kicked in. The earthy flavors were accompanied by some subtle hints of sweetness which faded away and were replaced by a touch of cedar. I finished my Gumball Head and cracked open a Bells Oberon for the last third. The last part of the cigar didn't seem to be as complex. It was pretty much the typical Davidoff eartly flavor with a bit of cedar.

I thought the blend was good, but that ring gauge just didn't do it for me. At $26 a cigar I don't feel like I could recommend it to folks. Now if they would have made it a 5 x 50 and shaved about ten bucks off the price I think they would have had a real winner.

I don't want to end the post on such a down note so I'll finish it up by letting everyone know we were lucky enough to get our hands on two boxes of the new 2010 Litto Gomez Diez Vintage Chisel Puro. I have boxes and singles available for order right now. Single cigars go for $11.80 and boxes of 24 are $254.50.

Litto has a couple great cigars set to debut at the trade show this year. He will be adding a Lancero size to his Litto Gomez Diez Vintage line. I think these Lanceros are going to be outstanding.

He also has a new Salomon with a dark wrapper. I'm not sure if it is a Maduro or one of his Oscuro wrapper leafs.

The one I'm really waiting for is the latest version of Litto's Small Batch. The new Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 3 should be coming out in August. The box says he used tobacco from his 2004 crop.

I'll give you folks a heads up when I get more info.

Thank you,
Eric
