Just thought I'd share this. Within the past year I built four humidors, two for me and the other two for my best friends. The first was my small cabinet that holds about....200 comfortably and another 75 if I pack the heck out of it. Problem was I made it more as a display humidor, of course I'd never need more space than that! (The base is in the works now, it'll be a full fledged armoir when done)
The carcass is Honduran Mahogany with Birdseye Maple panels, I think it's a pretty neat contrasting look. The shelves are solid Spanish Cedar and hang on brackets that my wife actually designed for me. The logo burnt in the front of the shelves is something I put on all my work, usually in a hidden spot, but for this I wanted it up front.

The next three were desktops, one for my office and the others again, for my buddies. These are made from 5/8" thick Spanish Cedar with a 1/8" hardwood veneer. All three are different species of veneer.
Black Walnut = Joe - Marshalltown, IA
Birdseye Maple = Vince - DesMoines, IA
Lacewood = Mine
All three humidors
Two closed and one open. You can see the top is a collage of cigar bands.
Mine is made out of Lacewood. Each humidor has 2 coats of boiled linseed oil and 24 hand rubbed coats of oil & urathane topcoat on it. These things shine like...well I don't know what they shine like, but they shine!
Joe's is made from Black Walnut. Each one has a similiar top of cigar bands. The bands were glued in place with Modge Podge glue and then sealed with a two part epoxy self leveling top coat, the same thing that's used on some bar tops.
Vince's is Birdseye Maple and I think the best looking of them all. The top and base match much better than in the pic, not sure why it photographed so funny!?
A close up of one of the tops, this is mine. These bands were an absolute biatch to glue down and get looking like an overlapped woven type pattern. I have to thank the wife for all the help on this one!
