First Humidor...

Hi all,

I am a newbie and have just purchased my first humidor. What I really need is some expert guidance on how to best fill it. Things to avoid, things that have worked well for others, etc. I've learned a lot just by reading through the threads here, but it's kinda like looking for the proverbial needle.

I've been pointed to CigarBid.com, and have been steered away from Thompson's. Are these good suggestions? We have a fairly good cigar shop in town and they always have a bargain bin -- anything in particular I should watch out for there? My budget is somewhat limited, but I could spend about $20 a month without getting into too much trouble (with the wife, of course.)

My goal is to build a nice collection and eventually get into some passes and trades.

Well, to state the obvious.... smoke less than you buy or buy more than you smoke....

That said, trades here and pack deals online are what worked for me, it's been slow going but after a year in the hobby and 6 months on the board I'm almost there.

i filled mine with jr cigars, and with their specials, got some nice deals.

Then i started trading here, and got some nice variety.

Most of my cigars came from the fine folks over here. Never made a bad trade with anyone over here yet.

Steve, if your limited to funds and want to build up a nice little selection, I'd start with JR's and their 5 pack specials. CigarBid is the devil, you'll be gettin' some good deals there but you'll also spend more than your monthly budget. Good luck and happy smokes...... :thumbs:

Im also A newbie...As far as my humidor Ive had no problems.I picked most of my stuff from CI and added to that from the local store and the local tinderbox.Also I joined the 8 Cigar A month club from CI as well.Everything is happy in Todds cigar world....I love this Damn hobby

Thanks for all of the excellent input...

Reality has hit my new humi hard in the past month since I got it. The damn thing's overflowing and I've already put a second humi on my Christmas wish list with the wife. I've asked for a much larger one this time.

And when it fills up, I'll look to the coolidor options.
