Ok I have a few bottles from Southern Tier, unfortunately I am not aware of the years these were bottled? I am assuming that the year was the year I traded them for ... but is there a way to figure out when the beer was bottled? There is a date raised on the glass on the bottom of the bottle, not sure if this is when the bottle was molded or beer was bottled.

Bell's has that batch Id you can punch on their website and it tells you when it was brewed and bottled, how can you identify any other breweries?

Currently there is no standardization for this. Some breweries put brewed on dates on the bottle neck or label, some put best buy dates, some don't put anything at all. It drives me nuts too and I have seen many threads complaining about it but no industry changes have been made to date.

What beer is it? I might be persuaded to road trip to the brewery this weekend and ask. Of course I'll have to have a beverage or two from their brewpub while I'm there... :whistling:

Chokolat, Pumpking, Jahva, Creme Burlee, and Oat

They're all seasonal and still available. What are the dates on the bottles? I'll see what I can find out. It will be a good excuse for me to grab some of the Hop Sun while I'm there.

some of the dates raised on the bottles have 08 and 07 ... but not sure if these are valid.

I went to the brewery yesterday and got an answer. The numbers on the bottles are meaningless as far as the brew date of the beer they contain. The same run of bottles are used for all their beers. They only date stamp case boxes.

Man that stinks, I will never know if I got them fresh or how long they've aged before I got them.

Thanks for getting the info.
