Sooooo... I woke up this morning to my brand new wine cooler not cooling any longer. Nothing at all. I check the electronics, nothing looks fried. It still has power running to the curcuits in the back, its lit up, everything else works, except the cooling (Peltier) unit. WTF???? This has pissed me off something serious and I dont know if I can afford to just setup a new unit. Anybody ever had this issue with their wine cooler??? This is a Haier unit, 12 bottle. I would love some sorta quick fix, but Im very skeptical....has anyone owned their unit for more than a year or two without any problems??? I guess if I need to replace it, I would want something reliable. Vinotemp seems to be popular, but Im still not confident in these units now, and after reading up a bit, it seems as if this is commonplace with TE units....AHHHHH. Sorry, Im just not too thrilled about this. Any help would be great...

Thanks everyone!

I have a Haier but I have been using for wine for almost 5 years and have never had a problem. I'd give them a call. Worse case you have to buy parts from them but thats cheaper then setting up a new unit.

Hey Billy,

Sorry to hear about your Haier. :(
Coooooler-dor to the Rescue!!! Temporary fix 'til you can get your baby up & running again.

Coolerdor or move the wine cooler to the basement or other cool are if it not there already to buy a little time. Good luck!

Man, this really stinks to read! You put so much work into that badboy! It looks great and looked like it was doing the job! Good luck getting it fixed man! Lemmie know how it turns out.

Billy, any news? I'm curious. It makes me sad thinking of that sweet wine'o'dor you made being broken.

SamuraiJack,

No major changes as of yet. I bought another, more reliable unit, and am planning to swap out the electronics myself into the old unit. I like the style of my old unit better, but the electronics suck. Will post more when I get around to it. Other than that, moved the humi to a cooler spot, and its been around 72-74F/65-68% RH. I'm not too worried about it really, as beetle larvae can actually incubate and hatch even into the mid 60's from the research I've done! If this one fails, I'm done with it altogether. Too much trouble.

Thanks for your interest!

~Billy
