This is a cool announcement for all of you Fat Tire fans. -- LINKY

I might even pound a few just to see if the taste really is the same.. :whistling:

Huh. And we just got the six pack bottles into distribution... I'm telling ya bro, Fat Tire is like the next Corona; only not as good with lime.

Yeah, so I can take it camping. I'll just throw a case of cans in my backpack and hope it doesn't slow me down.

Canoe camping maybe, car camping I'll just bring bottles.

For those of us outside the New Belgium shipping area, this could be good news. I even called the powers at New Belgium to ask them if they would do anything to ship to Ohio - they turned me down because of the commitment to 'fresh' beer. Oh well, I guess that means I have to make trips to Fort Collins.

What's the general consensus on this...overhyped crap? We'll probably not see it in PA, but I'm just curious as to the origin of the sarcasm.

Good Beer. Too much Hype!
New Belgium makes way better beers.
But I am still a fat tire guy!

I had a couple of these yesterday. Not a bad beer, but nothing I would really search out. I certainly don't think it's as good as the hype, but I didn't really like the Flying Dog beers that a lot of people seem to love either.

YMMV

:)

Overhyped? Definitely. Crap? Not necessarily. I'm not a big fan of Fat Tire, it's just too bland. Some of New Belgium's other brews are quite tasty, but in a country where Bud Light is the top-selling beer, perhaps it should not be surprising that the blandest of a craft brewer's offerings is the most popular.

Edit to add:
I didn't really like the Flying Dog beers that a lot of people seem to love either.
Ugh, I have yet to drink a Flying Dog beer that I would buy a six pack of.

I agree with you guys on this. It is good beer but not worthy of the crazy cult following it has.

As far as Flying Dog goes, I used to feel the same way but my opinion changed over the last few months. First off, their winter warmer K-9 is a great beer. Next, Gonzo (their imperial porter) is awesome and finally just yesterday I had their Double Dog Double Pale Ale and it was excellent. These three beers definitely won me over.

You have the advantage of me on this one, as my experience is limited to the paltry selection of their brews that make it through Iowa's bass-ackwards alcohol distribution system. There are rumblings of an attempt to make our scheme more craft and import friendly (i.e. abv restrictions), so hopefully something gets done on that front. Until then, I imagine my access to such tantalizing treats as winter warmers and imperial anythings will be strictly mail-order.

Sorry about all the whining, but I had to get it out of my system.

So I walked into the gas station last night and noticed we got fat tire!

I have never seen this in Michigan so never tried it. I did notice signs for it everywhere in Vegas though.
