Back when I started smoking cigars I decided I needed a humidor. So off I go to the local shop and come back with this little baby here which was made by Decatur Industries:

It did not take long before my OC disorder kicked in and I realized that I needed a BIGGER humi. Back then coolerdors had not been invented but the cigar cabinets were in and so I went out and bought this:

I'm sure I'm going to catch crap over the Acids but I actually like the Atom Maduro for a change up every now and then, besides I needed something to hide the good stuff in the back off the unit :p . This unit was made by Cigar Chest Company and is a really great unit. But times change and once again I need MORE room. Also interesting to note that both of the previous companies are no longer involved in humidor manufacturing - I believe they may both be out of the business.

So after searching online I decide I want to get one of the cigar towers. One of my vender's has a blowout sale on them and after communicating back & forth with a few board members who have the units, I order one. Humidor # 1 arrives via Fed EX & after a QUICK examination of the front I decide it is O.K. and off the driver goes. I was so excited to get the unit I did not completely remove it from the box and examine it. BIG MISTAKE!!! :0 Much to my surprise once I cleaned the sawdust off the glass I noticed a small crack in the one pane. Further inspection resulted in finding damage to the back of the unit- it appeared to have been dropped and the back ( base and side supports) is split and cracked in numerous places. The door also bulges when it is unlocked and does not seem like it would be airtight. So I call my vender, he calls the supplier and they tell him to bad I signed for it - it is mine. The shipping on these is $150.00 and no one, myself included wanted to pay to ship it back. After haggling back and forth my vender calls and says they will replace it for me FOC and I can dispose of the first, use it for a curio cabinet, firewood etc.. So unit number two shows up -again by Fed Ex & again it is damaged in the rear so I send that one back ( apparently I learned my lesson! ). Thursday #3 arrives via a different trucking company. Quality Importers has strapped this one to a pallet and it appears to have been handled with kid gloves. Upon opening & removing the packaging I notice this:

The first two units did not have this so I have to assume that they were not inspected once arriving in Florida from China. ??? So now I have this:

I have a Cigar Oasis XL II I need to get running and Heartfelt beads.

If you can notice the one on the right is also slightly larger and I believe that the door is going to need sealed if it is to work.

Nice units but if you get one make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb before you sign for it.

Thanks for the read!

WOW that sucks it took so long, but know you have two, that kicks ass. If you need to get it off your hands, I cant take care of it for you  Thanks for the story!

Nice Humidors. I really liked that chest you had. We will have to get together sometime and smoke one of those opus' you have there.

So what are you gonna do with the damaged one? try to fix it up or use it as a curio cabinet?

Nice Read Jim. I had a problem with mine that was not Shipping related. The manufacturer left some stuff off of it. I called Mike at Tampa Humidor and he got me another.

I'm going to tinker with it and see if it will hold the humidity. I'm not sure that it will without some major sealing.

John - just wondering if they picked up the first one?

Nice cabinets. I would LOVE to get one like that, but the wife already put the kibosh on that one! Apparently, things like remodeling our kitchen take precedence over my cigars.

Yes. Mike said he wanted to pick it up so that he could use it as a floor display model. He actually gave me full credit on shipping and all. Plus, he gave me a break on the bigger model I bought.
The defect I sent back was similar to your first end table type humidor. I traded up to the Trivoli type cabinet. It's the one with the "A" shaped top. I was not to sure about the appearance at first, but now I love it.
