At first glace, it was a pretty little cigar, dark enough to hold promise, but, knowing its reputation for mildness, looked liek a perfect early afternoon cigar for a night that promised to be long and full of smoke. A few small veins gave it character, but not enough to worry.
Xikar took a little snip off the end, and the post clip pre light draw had a touch of resistance, but was by NO means tight. It was actually just how I like a smaller cigar. Tasted like I was expecting, nice, easy tobacco flaor witha hint of sweetness.
At first light off a big Davidoff cigar match, I think I must have scorced the end a bit, becasue the first 5-7 puffs were not to my liking. I was worried...oh no, what a shame, I had been looking forward to this easy little cigar...but by the time I was into the thrid hand of hold 'em...I realized that the cigar had mellowed, the scorched taste was gone, and it was nothing but perfect little moutfuls of sweet, light smoke. Easy-smoking, did not require attention, and was forthright with flavors while being mild and subtle...quite interesting actually. I haven't had many cigars (or many anythings, other than certain wine varietals) that can be both subtle and forthright. THis seeming oxymoron can be analygized to a coy woman...very subtle, but the signals are unmistakable...
I nubbed this little cigar, enjoying every minute of it, breaking my streak of putting small cigars down at the last inch because they get harsh and bitter.
Very tasty, very enjoyable. At 2am, right after winning the 24 person tourney (that's right...hell yeah....), I thought about writing down my impressions of the cigars I had smoked. But I stumbled in the door, and was in a coma thirty seconds later...
