I'm relatively new to the cigar world and have been reading alot on humidifiers and humidifying agents to build up my knowledge. I've never owned a humidor before and have one of Greg's hand made cabinets on order. I've seen many different ideas on here and elsewhere on keeping the humidity level constant. I wanted to see if anyone out there has one of these humidors or one of similar size (24x17x18) that could give me some info on the best way to keep everything right be it silica beads, crystal humidifiers, or something like a cigar oasis. Thanks

Beads for sure. Talk to Viper139, he's the man when it comes to beads! Good luck! make sure you post some pictures of the cabinet!

Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure I get in touch with Viper. I'll be sure to post some pics when the humi comes in.....Brian

Jonesy:

Base on your dimensions 24x17x18 (if they are inside dimensions) you will need 14 ounces of beads. If you have a way to condition them I will send you a pound of Excuisicat Pearls unconditioned.

I have used Cigar Oasis for 8 years and they work fine but the good people here convinced me that beads work better. Beads release humidity quicker than the CO so if you are in the humi for a while you will have less drastic RH swings. There is also no chance of mechanical failure.

PM me if you want the beads.

Jeff
