Drymistat Type Questions...Confused

I was going to get a Drymistat for my 75ct humidor (coming next week). My local shop had something that looked very similar. It is ClimaGaurd made by Cigar Savor Enterprises. I got it home and unwrapped the outside label. There were instructions inside that said replace every 10 months and a spot were you could write the date you put it in. On the outside it said reusable, the only device you will ever need, etc. Are you supossed to replace all of them this often? There were also 6 huge holes (I could get the tip of my pinky through) instead of the micro pores that the Drymistat had. Finally, it did not have crystals but something that looked like a tampon (spongy foam) that's mounted on a spring so you can look through the hole to know when to add more water. It is the same shape as the Drymistat but seems like a completely different technology. Does anyone know anything about these? Should I get something else? I have it in a tupperware with no hygrometer (also coming next week) so hopefully it is good enough that it won't ruin the few cigars I have in there. I wanted to get one of those because they seemed easy, cheap and, like the wrapper said, the only device I would need but now I am not so sure. Any info/suggestions would be great. Thanks
