Hello Folks,
Im curious how long one should dry box a cigar that come out of a humidor that is 65% inside before you smoke it? I tried one a good while back with this same scenario and it didnt start burning well until about the middle of the cigar. Thanks for any information folks and enjoy your cigars in good health.

A lot will depend on the RH of your environment if you live in the swamps of Florida and the avg humidity is over 65% then dry boxing will do very little

I live in Northern Arizona but dry here for sure.

same for me in Colorado.
If i know i am going to smoke in the morning, then I take something out the night before and just leave it on the dresser or kitchen counter.
If it is going to be an afternoon or evening smoke, then that morning, or as soon as I know I might light one up

If the ambient humidity is lower than your storage, I've found a couple days in my desk drawer work great.

Here in Vegas I let my sticks sit out for 5-10 minutes, if that. Thats my “dry boxing.”

I keep my Humidors around 67%.

Word on the street is 63-64% internal cigar humidity is when the cigar will perform best.
I don’t have a little doohickey to check that, but I am curious how close my sticks are when I burn them. I typically have zero issues with burn, draw, and taste.

Think I'll try top of the dresser since we run about 50% in the house. See what happens.

If it's too dry you lose alot of flavours,

There are just so many factors

Eg if fresh out of a 65% and it is tightly packed/thick girth/extra long, you need more than 2-3 days
If regular PC/Corona, 1 day
Use a humidimeter to measure inside of about 63%. Roll the cigar between your fingers and feel/hear for the light crispness - Works on most blends.
