Ok, so i thought i would take my own thread to find an answer on this one. For those of you who dry box, what humidity do you keep your storage humidor at? How long do you keep your cigars in the dry box for, and does it differ based on which type/brand/origin it is?

Well I have three 300 count humidors and all three of them I use 65% beads. I usually never have a problem with any of my cigars except for Opus and brown label Tatuajes. Usually when I have an itch for a brown label Tat or Opus a day or two before I will take them out and put them in my old JR cigar box with no humidity device and that usually does the trick.

I also would like to know more about dry boxing. Seems like smokes such as the Opus could really benefit from it in my experience.... but I've heard of people dry boxing for very long periods of time...

I have a tupperador (sp?) that i have been playing with. I keep a tube of 60% beads in there. I left a few smokes in there that always seem to smoke "wet" for a couple of weeks. Tried one tonight and the draw was much nicer. I am going to be playing around with this some more.

My regular storage with 65% beads runs about 67-68%. I am going to put my hydrometer in the 60% bin to see where it sits one of these days.

I am also curious how something that smokes great out of my 65% bin reacts to the 60%. The actual dry box, with no humidity seems like too much thinking ahead for me, but if i keep a few sticks in the 60% for a while i can always smoke those if that is what i feel like that day.

I run my 100 qt cooler at 65% humidity and usually never have a problem. My question is, why not just leave the cigar out on the counter or something for a few hours/days? I guess it depends on the ambient humidity of the room. Seems it would be the exact same thing as putting a cigar into an empty box. I don't know anyone who runs 60% beads so I cannot answer that part.

My storage cabinet humidor is set for 63% and some cigars I have trouble smoking directly from are Opus and lanceros (various brands). As for dry boxing, my method is take out a cigar and just leave it on a counter or desk until I smoke later in the day. This has helped with burn issues on the types of cigars I mentioned.

My storage for my boxes is a wine cooler running at 67/66.
From there I usually move them to one of the boxes which are 68/72
but really have had no trouble. I do tend to let those partagus blacks
that I smoke daily sit out for a couple hours before I light em.
