I bought the cooler, cleaned it, started getting ready to glue in cedar sheets and put in the shelf, and I noticed the drain plug. Now I knew it had it, but it just hit me that it might affect it.

Thoughts? ???

screwed mine down as tight as it would go, without stripping the threads- no problems at all. If it's the pressure fit type, I doubt it would be a problem either. I guess if you were worried about it you could seal it with some sort of USDA approved food grade caulk- I used some in my fish smoker so I know they make it...

But really, I seriously doubt it will affect the RH- so far mine hasn't wavered in more than a month, other than when I open it to take a great, big inhaled breath! DAMN they smell good...

Talking about those fish makes me hungry!

what about sealing it with hot glue?

I really don't think it will make a difference. Screw it on but don't go nuts. I have mine screwed on half way as I have my cigar oasis cord come out through there. During the summer I have been using beads, took the cord out and screwed it on and have had no troubles at all.

I've read a lot of people use it to help control the humidity and air exchange, but if you're using beads the humidity control won't really be too much of an issue. Considering that a few humidors have gaps on their drawers with no impact on humidity levels, I'd think you'd be fine just leaving it.

hum, never thought about running that plug threw there... nice move!

No Glue! I use the drain when the temp gets too high. I was thinking of hooking up a small computer fan inside and running the wire through the plug hole.

What did you use to clean it? I hope you took the advise from the other thread. It doesn't look like it, if your using hot glue.

Can you post some pictures when your done? Should look great.

I like to think they go hand in hand...tailgating and a cigar.

I've seen him between 35-40 times.
