Had the opportunity to get in a new box of Bolivar Royal Corona's these cigars are from April 2005. I always smoke one out of the box before I put them in storage for a later date. Well I had some 2003 that just ran out, I hate when that happens. So I wanted to compare this to the ones I just received. Here goes the review for this cigar:

I punched this cigar as I have been alternating between cutting and punching of late. Let me just say the only difference I perceive is that the cigar has less unraveling with the punch. On to the cigar itself, the wrapper was a dark chocolate color with some slight veining and the cap was spot on. The initial draw was good and I lit it with my torch and got a very nice burn going on it. The initial draw was a little harsh which I expected as the cigars have been in transit for over a week. Overall an even burn with the typical grey ash on most ISOMs I have had. The flavors are like the 2003, hinting of leather, turning into coffee, cocoa taste. I smoked this to the end and was definitely a good one to the end. This is this is a medium bodied cigar according to my taste as I like mine on the strong side. This cigar with some age will definitely be a player. I would rate this cigar as B- right know in a year or two we will see.

On to the second part of the double header. I got a few Davidoff Limited Edition Robustos as I'm Golfgar's Robusto pass and wanted to see if these would fit the bill. I must say I'm not a fan of natural wrappers, but the guy at that cigar store assured me these wouldn't disappoint. The construction of this cigar was impressive, the wrapper had almost no veining and was rolled perfectly the cap was also a thing of beauty. I punched this one also and the initial draw was smooth. I had this cigar after dinner so, I was treating this cigar as dessert and it did not disappoint. This cigar started off as a very smooth tasting cigar with a slight taste of cinnamon and after taste of tea. I just couldn’t get a feel what the after taste was. I rate as a mild cigar but with a little character to it. I would definitely try a few more just to get what the cigar really tastes like. I’m not pleased with the price though, and these are NYC prices at that $18.35 plus tax so it was a $20 cigar. I would say that it would be on par with an Opus in construction, but not at that premium price. I will include one in the pass when it gets to me. Overall I would rate as a B, maybe these will turn out to be classic in the future who knows. I still prefer the Davidoff’s Millennium as a premium cigar.

Nice reviews man! Those are great cigars but I too like the Millenium series better.
