He folks, my buddy is headin out to D.R. Puntacana this Sunday and offered to grab mew a box of gars, what is readily available in premium cigars, easy to find and not worry about counterfeits? D.R. cigars are pricey where I'm from so I could get some good sticks at a good price. Any certain type stores to go to? How is the duty free at the airpost?. My buddy isn't into cigars so I need it be somewhat foolproof. many thanks in advance...JP

I think I heard/read someplace that it's cheaper to get them here than it is to carry them out yourself. Maybe someone else knows more...BTT

If he isn't into cigars, don't bother. You won't be able to get any deals in the DR.

Bingo

I've tried this numerous times. The wife works with a guy from the DR, his family has come to the states a couple times and brought me sticks at my request. I ended up paying more then what they were worth.

What you should do, is have him grab as much of that Santo Domingo coffee as he can, that stuff is liquid gold. In fact, Ill buy a couple bags off you if you get some.

If you are dying to get some sticks direct from the DR for the purpose of getting them, ask for Leon Jimenes.
