Hello,I am new to forum and I have a question.
I decided to build humidor from old cigare box ( both money and my love of building thing my self efected this decision.

Now the box I use for this project is spansih cedar but it is in rought shape,so I wanted to sand it down, wax inside for water profnes, make it so it close really tight and ofc make it into humidor,
but i want to know:
Will painting outside of the box have any influence on the cigars inside, paint I would use is clear Varnish?
Thanks alot for answer. :)

"wax inside for water profnes"?

Does this mean you want to wax to water proof the inside of the box? Does the box seal properly?
BTW, welcome to CP. Please go introduce yourself. You will get a better response and advice from a great group of guys after you tell them a little about yourself. Hobbies? Interests? Favorite Smokes?

Yes that is what I ment, want to know can wax do a trick so that wood dont soak up moist from humidor, sorry for my bad english.
I have allready painted it and are currently drying it,later i will change cuban romeo y julieta and probably seal box really good with some silicone.
Thanks for answer by the way :)

I would think that you don't want to waterproof the inside of the humidor.  You do want the wood to soak up some moisture, it helps provide a stable environment.  If you look at all humidors the wood is left naked.

What he said...plus, do you want to taste wax?

Gues I wont do that then, I read that somewhere but in this case I will do it without wax and will see what will I end up with in few days :D

....I get the whole DIY aspect of it, but it looks like you're really working awfully hard at this.  Why not invest in an inexpensive desktop humidor, or a small tupperware container?  This is supposed to be fun, remember...??... ;)

Well, its not work if you enjoy it.  Maybe that is why employers have to pay us.
