My father-in-law and i went to a local smoke shop last night to hang out and watch the bruins game. He grabbed a cohiba red-dot (yuck) and i grabbed a DCM Toro #4.
the wrapper was dark, oily and smooth. the construction, flawless. the draw was perfect for my tastes, the cigar burned for about 1 1/2 hrs, and needed one touch-up. the flavors are incredible, hints of cocoa and spice and leather abound, with a nice finish on the pallette. we enjoyed a poland spring water with our smokes, and after finding out we can bring our own booze, some scotch will be on the agenda next time. The first inch is a little harsh, but settles down after that and is complex enough to make you wish it was a cigar that won't end.
Is it worth the $13.90 i paid? some would say yes, some no, i really like this smoke, so you can surmise what my answer is. will i buy more? certainly yes. I also would call this a medium to strong bodied cigar, not Opus strong, but damm close.
without getting into the cigar afficianado rating system, i would give this a 90 rating. the biggest thing that hurts this cigar is price, ti is certainly not the construction or appearence.
If you like a spicy and ever changing smoke (and who doesn't), DCM will not disappoint, truly a classic, and a must have in my humidor.
