I've been reading through the many threads here on wine cooler humidor conversions and was wondering if anyone tried something similar on a small unit. I've been looking at the Vinotemp VT-6 TEDS http://www.vinotemp.com/bottle-wine-cooler...teel-p-515.html as a possible candidate for conversion.

Living in a small Manhattan apartment that is extremely hot in the summer time and still hot (high 70's) in the winter (radiator steam heated). I'm reluctant to store my cigars here for fear of the tobacco beetles, mold, etc. Unfortunately space is the second constraint.

Has anyone thought about or built a conversion on one of these units?

I would humidify it with either heartfelt beads or an oasis jr.

I would also like to hardwire a Runco temp controller unit in as it seems the stock vinotemp units aren't particularly accurate. This seems like it might be overkill on a small unit though.

Any thoughts on this conversion would be appreciated.

Head on over to the introduce yourself forum. Then you will most likely get some replies.

Absolutely not worth it for the price and size. I bought my 28 bottle version for 199 and it holds 400 sticks. You are thinking of buying one that is a 6 bottle for 129. That will only hold 80-100 cigars. Way too small if you hang out at CP for any length of time. Go bigger.

Absolutely, Go bigger.

this place is evil. My 28teds is bursting at the seams. Now I need a cabinet humi to put my cooler on and I will be all set.
