So I have not owned a desktop since first getting into cigars over five years. Now I would like to invest in one that will be worth it. I am looking for something around a 100 count, and isn't lousy like those catalog desktops.

TIA

Adrian

BTW I did a search prior and came up with very little.

Price point?

The merely functional are available for a relative pittance. The aesthetically pleasing can be disgustingly expensive. It's all about your price point.

I had to read between the lines! :)

I've had a Daniel Marshall for several years. Expensive but it's the most consistent desktop I've ever owned. Got mine for 50% off thru their private stock sale which sells them with slight imperfections. I still can't find the imperfection on mine.

Daniel Marshall

X2 on the Daniel Marshall. It's a very nice piece, haven't had it long but so far very stable.

Bob Staebell (Staebell and Associates) is very well known for his cabinets, but he makes some beautiful custom desktops as well. I have one of his large cooled cabinets and the craftsmanship on mine is virtually perfect. Worth a look and maybe a phone call to Bob, I'd say.....

Good Luck - B.B.S.

Thanks for the info Brothers all very solid and reliable makers noted.

Hey Ray,

Do you own one if so what is sitting on your desk?

www.tobacco-barn.com is in Lake Forest and they have a 30% off sale on all humidors for November. Ok selection I guess. Don't really know how they operate though since I've never done business with them, just happened to see their sale on humidors.

I'm actually a fan of Diamond Crown branded humidors myself (which are manufactured by Reed and Barton - a very respected company). I think they're a great meshing of pricing, aesthtics and functionability. My main desktop humidor is the Diamond Crown Biltmore. It is rated to hold 100 cigars, I believe. Not really sure. Its MSRP is in the $675 range. It's often found online in the $450-$600 range. I purchased a new and completely unblemished display model on E-Bay for something like $150. It was only missing its Diamond Crown humidification system. I use humidification beads anyway, so no loss there. I stopped using those Diamond Crown humidifiers years ago - although I'd take those over any Credo type system anyday.

Not sure about particular brands - but for pricing you might want to poke into one of your local tobacco shops, I got my desktop humi for 50% off because of a very very tiny marking on the corner. They regularly liquidate humidors they get with very minor imperfections.
