This afternoon I ventured down to Moki's local hangout and tried a couple cigars I haven't had before.

The first was an Aurora 100 anos (somewhere around a corona size). The construction was flawless and the aroma wonderful. The burn was perfect right down to the nub. This was a medium bodied cigar with great flavor. I was hoping for a little more strength, as I tend to like full bodied smokes. I would get it again if the mood was right, but for the same price I'd rather have a VSG.

Since I had a little more time before I had to be anywhere, I asked the gentlemen I'd been chatting with (who I believe was one of the owners) for his recommendation. After some looking around, I selected a Don Tomas Maduro Robusto. Once again, the construction and aroma were excellent. The burn on this was also perfect throughout. This was my style cigar. It was a medium to full bodied with fantastic taste. This will become one of my regulars. If it had been handed to me unbanded, I would have guessed it was closer to a $7-8 cigar instead of only $3. If you like maduros with some body to them, I highly recommend you try one of these. I plan on adding a box to my collection fairly shortly.

Wow all that from a Don Thomas? I have to start digging through the humi, I know I have a few somewhere just don't recall getting the same reaction out of mine. Did it have much age on it?

The boxes were fairly new. The owner said Don Tomas recently changed their blends and they were the first of the new blends they'd gotten in. Do any other members have any info on this? I've tried searching on the web and can't find anything. I can't even find one with the same band. It had the regular Don Tomas band and a band that said Maduro on it right below that.

Yeah my local shop just got these in for like 65.00 a box i think. I have a couple but I have not tried them yet. I will try and take a picture of one when I get home later. On the stick itself, I think the band says Don Tomas and then Maduro below that like you said...

I recently tried one of these as well due to the free coupon in the most recent CA. I was very happy with this cigar, especially for the price. It makes a good day to day smoke without breaking the piggy bank.
