They say if you want Flintlock you have to have a good sense of humor. Sometimes the gun goes off, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes your powder is drier than others and the bullet takes a slightly different path.

I busted my ass getting through an impassable ticket and snuck up on a deer laying. It was slightly below me and looking straight away from me but it was only 12 yards away.

I freaking missed!
 
Well shit! Hopefully you'll get another chance. When does the season end for you? Our regular season is over and it's only the excess antlerless through next weekend.
 
It goes through January 20th. It's a long season starting the day after christmas. It is flintlock only and open sites only.
 
And when you start to go down in a nasty thicket, you instinctively grab the first thing you see.

This hurt! It was only about an inch and a half in diameter .... just enough to wrap my entire hand around!

And I even had a good laugh at myself. I tripped over a stick buried in a foot of snow and went down in slow motion. I held my gun up to keep my powder dry but that led to me going down pretty deep and rolling to one side. I tried to get up but every time I tried, I just rolled over more. I lost my hat in the snow and couldn't find it, when I finally got up I had to laugh at what must have been funny as hell to watch!

That's better than falling off the beaver dam waist deep into water with your flintlock in 12° weather. lol

You should have mounted a bayonet, at the distance you could have had a second chance!
