A friend came into town yesterday and we decided to have a smoke after playing some golf. I've been meaning to try this CR Sungrown for a while, so I figured why not. I've become quite a fan of the sungrown wrappers, due in part to all the delicious AF SGs I've tried lately. No real expectations for this one. Just hoping it could hold its own.
The construction was solid with a smooth, aromatic wrapper. I've been having some burn problems lately, probably due to the extra humidity in my humidors so I took this one out earlier in the day to let it "dry out." That did the trick. It lit up like a firecracker.
Burn was consistant. The taste was a mild to medium. It produced a fair amount of smoke. I'm not sure what kind of factor this is... but I like cigars that produce some smoke. Nevertheless, the taste, albeit good, got boring real fast. If I had to characterize one-dimensional taste, this cigar would embody it.
It wasn't a long cigar (a shade under 5") and I didn't nub it, so it was just a solid 20-25 minute smoke.
Score: 7 of 10 due to a lack of dimension
I may try another... but no rush to get anymore.
