Don't want to burst your bubble, but those in the know around here get Esplendidos for one hell of a lot less than $34 a stick.

I'm not sure why people feel it necessary to post negatively towards vendors, unless they've had a bad experience. This guy is new...nice way to welcome him. He's a Canadian vendor. His prices are pretty much along the lines of Canadian prices.(which just happen to be higher than some other countries). I don't see people reeming CgarsLtd for having high UK prices. So why greet this guy with negative posts about his pricing? If you have a better source...that's your business. Don't sabotage a vendors promotion. WTF? ???

Welcome to CP!!

Cohibas are too rich for my blood and my wallet :(

I stick to the $8.00 range Havanas ;)

Answer to your WTF:

Better to be straight-forward w/ the guy so he doesn't waste his time trying to figure out why his phone isn't ringing off the hook. If my communication style offended you, I'm sorry...but it sure beats trying to read between the lines, beating around the bush, or any of those other ridiculous cliches :)

Furthermore, this type of input is by no means sabotage to a vendors promotion. If anything, it's valuable feedback. He can now focus his energy on advertising in/on a venue that better suits his price scale.

...or maybe I'm just living in a make-believe world where honesty and straight-forward communication are valued :0

I'm not sure what causes you to believe that, but we have vendors that post here with similiar prices that do infact get business. Your "straight-forwardness" is misguided. You may not want to order from this vendor, but it isn't your place to post your opinion about his prices on his promo thread. Who are you? The price police? And what exactly has he done to you to deserve your negative opinion?

You're offensive as coming off as a represenative of CP policing vendors promos for pricing that doesn't meet your personal standards. I'm sure this guy entered this site thinking it was the "Internets Friendliest Cigar Community"(as Rod advertises) and the first response he gets is from you knocking his prices. I'm sure he's offended. What a nice welcome to the community.

Wow!!! I had no idea you were head of vendor marketing relations here at CP. It seems its your job to work directly with vendors to see if CP is the right demographic for there advertising. When did you get that job?

or maybe I'm just living in a make-believe world...

Yeah if you can't see your post as being negative...that's pretty obvious.

Exactly which vendors should be posting here based on their price scale and which ones should find another venue? Ohh...and what venue should they go to? It would be really nice if you could sort that out for everyone. :)

I can see this is a slippery slope. I should have seen this prior to posting my initial response to his offer...but I didn't. I'll live and learn.

That said, this is a public forum and can easily be found on any readily used search engine. Since it is in fact public, I'm fairly certain I have the right to post a comment, much as I did. You, in turn have the right to post a response, which you did.

I did not, at any point, say I was a representative of CP's staff, marketing or vendor relations team, etc. Furthermore, my comment was not a personal attack on you...it was a simple statement.

Again, I'm sorry if you perceived my response as being negative. It was simply meant to be informative.

As far as my opinion of what venues this person should use for efficient and effective advertising: I'd link off sites w/ the following format
http://ca.......com You know, Canadian sites? After all, it's illegal to buy Cuban cigars in the US :)

Beast, We have differing opinions on this one and I mean no disrespect to you. I'll stick w/ reviewing cigars and light-hearted humor from here on out, as I really don't much enjoy getting into this type of stuff online and I'm sure others don't enjoy reading it.

Thanks and apologies to those who had to read through this,
Anthony

To respond to your last statement: I actually do not mind reading this kind of thread and don't think this kind of conversation goes beyond any guideline we have (but I may be corrected shortly, eh?) I thought it was well within the bounds of constructive and polite - and still is. Just because we're the friendliest community doesn't mean we have to be on tiptoes and have to agree with each other all the time, does it? Just IMO, but if this is the extent of our arguing, then we've got a very good community here. There have been threads that I didn't like - but they are few and far between - and easy enough to just stop reading.

I like your posts Tony, and don't think you should change your behavior unless you want to or if you believe you were wrong - but be prepared to be argued with or disagreed with on occasion. Personally, I did think your first one was presumptuous and I actually was going to post something teasing you about it and letting the vendor know he is welcome here. Yes - I am one of the folks that occasionally buys from Canadian and UK vendors - as I know several that I like who take care of me with specific hard to find items. Most of my purchases go to the usual less-expensive suspects, but I am always looking to add another good vendor to my list of those to get to know.

IMO: Watching a fight on this board is like watching to British gentlemen from the 1800's debate the finer points of tea drinking... the gloves stay on, and I can almost picture a monocle on one of your faces... :D

Cheers,

- Oak

Modified to add smiley face. That's kind of sad, eh? ;)

Well...this obviously went alittle far. I wasn't looking to turn this into an attack. I just think vendors should beable to post here without ridicule. Who we buy from and the prices we're willing to pay is a personal choice. I don't think any of us has the right to comment on a vendor if we haven't had a personal experience with them. It's the quality and customer service that matters....price is an individuals concern...not one mans opinion thown out to the masses. While I'm sure everyone has "their right" to an opinion and the opportunity to post it, the opportunity to show a little curtisy would have been the better choice. :)

Anyway...that is all I was saying. ;)

Nicely done guys. Only at CP would this not turn in to a total flame war

Please keep in mind that this is the HOT CIGAR DEALS forum, and we welcome all vendors to this forum to post their specials, deals, sales, whatever it may be, no matter how high or low their prices are.
