Coronado by La Flor, Corna Especial (5 7/8 x 47)
The Filler is Dominican Piloto with a Dominican Corojo binder, and the wrapper is the same Nicaraguan Litto uses on his Ligero Torpedo
I was very happy to see that Lito Gomez has added some new sizes to the excellent Coronado line! Although the original 3 sizes, ranging from 7 x 50 and larger were lovely, I find it hard to take a cigar of that size down on a regular basis. Thus the cigar under review falls under my usual size range of Robustos, Corona Gordas, and Torpedos. My first prominent observation when smoking this cigar is that the 'nutty/woody' character of the cigar that dominate its flavor profile remains consistent throughout the entire smoke, where I found that with the Coronado Double Corona (7 x 50) the flavor tended to fade at certain moments.
The construction, burn, and draw have all been excellent, with a loose white/gray ash.
This cigar is a true medium to full body smoke, comparable to a HdM #2 or a JL #1 that shares very similar characteristics. The cigar does get a little stronger in the final third with a little more spice added to the mix.
This is my cigar of choice at the moment, appropriate for an A.M. or P.M smoke. I currently prefer it to the several habanos I have in my humidor!
Finally despite several the comments that other reviewers have noted regarding the Coronado line, This cigar is not a "POWERHOUSE". It is full bodied, but not on the level of the La Flor Dominica Double Ligerio line, which can knock an unassuming smoker off his feet
Enjoy, I highly recommend this beautiful cigar!
