Corn Cobs vs Briar

Am I crazy, or is it easier to smoke a corn cob vs a briar? I feel like I am able to keep a bowl lit longer and without as much effort in a cob vs my briar pipes.

Thoughts? Anyone else have a similar or opposite experience?

I love a good cob! As far as keeping the bowl lit longer, can't say whether there's a diff between the two, but I do know that my packing the tobacco properly makes one heck of a difference.

But you may be right.....

Cobs seem to me be wonderfully forgiving, not sure if it is real or just in my head, but flavor wise. My Briars just taste better

Cobs rule! I've got high-end factory pipes, estate pipes, artisan pipes, etc. Cobs have a great open airflow, breathe better and dry faster. The only reason to own anything but cobs is aesthetics, IMHO.

I'm starting to feel this exact same way...seeing as I mostly smoke a pipe while I'm puttering around the garage, I don't quite see the need for a fancy briar right now.

When I smoked the pipe frequently, I loved cobs because they didn't get at hot to the touch, they dried quicker, and you didn't have to worry about the mirror polish.h
