Coolidor humidity?

Finally have my coolidor up and going and am attempting to control the humidity. Over the past two days it ranges from 61% to 71%. Don't have any beads yet, so I'm just using a damp sponge and some humidor gel I got at a local B & M.

Just wondering if I should expect this kind of range until things settle in and if it's ok? I've done a search and see the threads about spikes, but this appears to be within the acceptable range. I guess what I'm asking is if the cigars are ok within a range of 10?

Its not that good.
Off course the best would be a steady humidity level, but that is also realtive
hard to obtain. There always going to be some ups ans downs on the RH level.
Usually its 2%-3%, in your case its much more so I guess you should order
some beads and forget about it.
Also try not to check what is the RH in the coolidor very often,
that is one of the reasons for the Rh to drop.

Are your cigars in the cooler now?

No, I just got two boxes and they are in a ziplock that's holding a pretty steady 67%.

You may want to just wait until you get your beads, a damp paper towel is a rather unreliable method of humidifying cigars, unless you're soaking it in PG solution.

Adding the cigar boxes would bring down the RH i would think. Although you do really need the beads.
