Cool Gift From Wife

So my wife really knocked it out of the park this Christmas and spoiled me rotten. I got a seriously nice restaurant grade kegerator. She also managed to get me a 1/6 keg of my favorite sour from Burley Oak Brewery. Thing is, they don't release kegs to the public and not only did she manage to somehow talk them into it, but an 8 hour road trip was involved to go to the brewery and score it.

My favorite gift though, was this cool Cigar Dossier and the sweet note she left me inside it. She's right though. I've made some awesome friendships through cigars, some are with people I've never met in person. Something about cigar lovers that the overwhelming majority are generous, like minded souls. I was amazed and reminded today, how many great memories that I have involve cigars.

Best part is having a spouse that sees what I see and supports, and encourages my passion.

Wow all of that is simply awesome.

Yeah you did well. Remember the surprise birthday she threw for you a few years ago?

Sounds like an awesome Christmas.

I want to see a picture of the kegerator placement, when it's up and running.

This and a video of your first pour! Remember practice makes perfect so keep your glasses clean and room temp for excellent suds.

You keep the glasses at room temp for better pouring? I thought that you wanted the glasses cold. Does it vary based on the beer type?

Cold/frozen glasses cause the beer to foam excessively which ultimately leads to wasted beer and a muted experience of everything a delicious craft beer has to offer. Also beers served "ice cold" retain more c02 which leads to feeling fuller after consuming less beer and can take on off flavors of whatever is in the fridge/freezer.

I always try and give the clean glass a good rinse before filling (reducing friction/cleaning the walls), for a cleaner pour and controllable amount of head.

An old one of me pouring some Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA - https://www.instagram.com/p/wact3Iy8eX/

All in all cold masks flavor/aroma, numbs the tongue, and retains more c02 in the beverage. No fun if you ask me. :)

Sometimes, if I'm drinking something like my every day beer along the lines of Stella or a Vienna Lager, I prefer to have it ice cold and like the profile that way.

This is good advise. Rinse your glass, remove the "rust" as the Belgian bartender put it, and drink at cellar temp. :)

Stella, the Budweiser of Belgium. :D

Although, as the saying goes, smoke and drink what you like!

You go any recommendations on temp settings and regulator pressure settings on my rig Jimmy? I'm a complete novice....

The first two on tap will be the Stella and Burley Oak Sorry Chicky (A Lacto happy, dry hopped sour ale coming in at around 5% ABV). Honestly, I like to can pour it ice cold and let it sit for a spell, seeing the flavors develop as it warms.
