Well they were trying to spell Connoisseur and said screw it - we'll keep it Connossieur. Yup, Habanos SA at it again. Instead of reprinting they kept the misprinted boxes, bands and ribbons until the next run.

I received my box today and was looking at the box and was thinking that didn't look like the right spelling. I went on the internet to kinda do some research and found out the story behind it.

I found this on a description below from a vendor online that got me thinking - should I just smoke these and buy a couple more boxes if they are going to be a collectors item?

I was wondering what your thoughts are on this. I know believe me I'm going to smoke these but your thoughts on acquiring a few more boxes for a collection purposes?

Length: 5 1/2"
Ring Gauge: 52
Flavour: Light to Medium
Packaging: Single cigar

Reserved only for La Casa del Habano shops and outlets that qualify as a Havana Cigar Specialist, the H.Upmann Connoisseur A is presented in SLBs of 25 and measure 5 ½” x 52 (VdG: Genios). This is the first time a cigar of the Genios size has been produced outside of the Cohiba brand (Cohiba Genios - Maduro 5). The Connoisseur A joins the standard range for H.Upmann.

For those of you reaching for the dictionary for the spelling of “Connoisseur” (or typing it into Google as is probably more the case these days), your suspicions will indeed be confirmed. The small error on the box, band and ribbon has been noted and will be rectified by Habanos S.A. on future production runs. This I am sure will make the current batch with the incorrect version somewhat of a valuable collector’s item.

You would have to find the right market/person down the road who cares enough about the spelling if your intention would be to sell them in the future.   Otherwise, you have some extra boxes, and cool story for the few people in your life interested about that.  Up to you if that's worth spending the extra scratch now.

FYI...clearly I'm of a different mindset about stuff like this.   I care if the cigars/beer/etc is good, and couldn't really give a darn about the boxes/bands/labels.

Yeah it would be a cool story and what's the worse that can happen smoke a couple more boxes. :)

Those boxes will bring big $$$.
Honestly?   I guess I didn't realize there was actually a market for that.   Huh....now I know.

I have been buying collectible items like this for years, and always end up smoking them... What I would suggest is IF these are in the "amazing" category when you smoke them, then buy a few more boxes... I always say that great cigars are worth more than the money you use to pay for them... If they become extremely valuable down the road, then sell them, if not... smoke them.

Bill I'm afraid that will be the case anyway that I will end up smoking them.

With the spelling error, those probably will not smoke well.  I'll dispose of them for you.

Errors on anything collectable can often bring good money. Let us know how they smoke.

Reminds me of Litto's spelling mistake.
I prefer the Camerooms much more than the Cameroons.

At least someone remembered.

I have a couple of boxes of the Camerooms (one with some cigars in it) that I would be willing to part with for $500 per empty box.  Serious inquiries only.

Dan, I had one this morning and a very decent cigar overall. The ones that I have are young (UPE SEP 13) but these will be excellent with some age. I said screw it and ordered two more boxes today. Not sure that they will ever be sold though. :p

Well I received the other two boxes today. One for smoking and the other two stashed in the humi for a long while. Aahh who am I kidding  - those will probably get smoked too.

There's always a way around that issue...and I have been practicing it for years as do quite a few guys I know.

Buy way more cigars than you can smoke for about 25 years...and before you know it, you forget what you have by basically smoking what's right in front of you.

Then you periodically dig around all your humidors (periodically because it's a major pain in the ass to do this) and find those hidden gems you forgot you bought all those years ago.

Simple really...

PS: Multiple concussions & chronic laziness aids in this approach to cigars buying.
